A partnership between the sports college, Basildon School Sports Co-ordinator programme and the town's sports development team has been formed to provide girls in year four within east Basildon an opportunity to try various sports.
All girls from the 13 schools involved will try a taster session in four different sports: badminton, cricket, tag rugby and tennis as part of the New Directions programme.
After the initial trial they will choose to take a short course in one of the four sports.
It is hoped that when the programme completes the girls will be given extended opportunity in nearby clubs.
Taster sessions have already taken place at Willows Primary, Cherry Tree Primary, Vange Primary and Northlands Juniors.
Programme coordinator Louise Robertson has praised the four schools for donating the use of their premises for this programme.
"An extended thank you to all the other junior and primary schools in East Basildon for helping to promote our new directions programme," said a spokesman for the college.
