The unstinting efforts of people who look after others joined in a celebration to mark National Volunteers' Week.
Exhibitors from voluntary groups including Southend Bookstart, Cape, Bar-n-Bus, Growing Together and the Citizens Advice Bureau, were among many at the Southend Association of Voluntary Service bureau in Alexandra Street.
They showed visitors the invaluable work they do in the hope of encouraging others to give up some of their time for their community.

A spokesman said: "Anyone can take part in volunteering, whatever your age, sex, ethnicity, employment status, ability or disability."
