A school will be making a splash this week when healthy living gets put firmly on the curriculum.
Kents Hill Junior School, in Kents Hill Road, Benfleet, has an action-packed week planned with the culmination being a visit from a sporting star.
Karen Smith, who has represented Great Britain in diving, will be dropping by in the hope of reinforcing the importance of healthy living to youngsters.
Headteacher Deborah Moss said: "We felt a visit from a sporting star was important as it would show the children the long-term gains and benefits of having a healthy lifestyle. I am hoping she will talk to our pupils about her training schedules and the kind of lifestyle she leads."
In addition to the visit from Karen, the school will also be welcoming the Essex Leopards basketball team who will be working with youngsters to improve their ball skills.
