Firefighters using specialist cutting equipment sliced open a vehicle so paramedics could treat the driver following a collision near Sadlers Farm roundabout.
The accident happened at 6pm on Saturday when a Ford Transit van collided with Vauxhall Frontier car which in turn clipped a Ford Fiesta before spinning off the road.
Acting sub officer Rob Sherwin, from Hadleigh fire station, said the crash occurred about 300 yards away from Sadlers Farm roundabout on the Southend-bound carriageway of the A13.
