Fire crews had to cut a man free from his car after it was involved in a three-vehicle crash on the A12 on Sunday.

A spokesman from the Chelmsford fire and rescue team said it took about 20 minutes to rescue the trapped man, who was then taken to Broomfield Hospital by air ambulance.

The accident happened on the London bound carriageway of the A12 at Ingatestone at about 8.45am and left the road closed for a number of hours as emergency services dealt with the cars.
