Two hundred and fifty balloons will be released in Colchester to raised money for sick children.
Staff at the town's Asda supermarket are running a balloon race there tomorrow and for £1 each youngsters will be able to take part.
The money will go towards equipment at Colchester General Hospital's children's ward.
The buyer and finder of the one which goes furthest will win a prize
Hayley White, Asda events co-ordinator, said they decided to run the fundraiser after they were asked for support by James Linford, who is doing a sponsored walk for the children's ward.
He started raising money for it after badly injuring his leg in a climbing accident
