An annual festival celebrating the king of vegetables is to be held in Coggeshall this weekend.
Asparagus has outlived many civilisations since it was first harvested by the Egyptians and every year a festival celebrating its harvest is held at Abbey Farm in Abbey Lane, Coggeshall.
The festival is being held tomorrow and Sunday between 10.30am and 5pm. Admission is £2 for adults with children under 14 going free.
Entertainment at the festival, aside from the asparagus, will include donkey rides, face-painting, willow weaving, owl display, duelling knights and have-a-go-archery.
The event is signposted on the A12 and A120. For more details, call 01621 773403
