Sixty golfers entered the IMS Plate major stroke play competion at The Essex Golf complex at Garon Park.
In great weather conditions, and with greens now in good condition, 17 competitors managed to achieve net par of 70 or better.
Also, for the first time four of the new nine holes were integrated into the previous back nine.
These greens with some steeper slopes and cambers provided the golfers at Essex with fresh challenges to their putting skills.
Racing to victory was 16 handicapper Glen Jaggs with a gross 81 and net 65.
Next came five golfers all with net 67.
Out came the computers and after complex countback calculations second place eventually went to 10 handicap Simon Stone with Jim Harrison off 16 coming third.
Jim Marshall and Nick Carver were the other two on net 67.
