Police are investigating an attack on a woman as she left a toilet at a train station.
A man, described as white and aged between 18 and 25, is said to have approached the woman in her late 20s as she came out of a cubicle of a toilet at Wickford station.
Officers are treating the incident as attempted rape although they are yet to question the victim further.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "She was just about to leave when she was attacked by a man.
"She managed to fight him off and he escaped out of the station towards the town centre."
The woman was left uninjured but shaken after the attack at around 6pm.
The man is said to be around 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall, with short dark hair, wearing a white or grey hooded top and jeans. He had a smart looking DJ-style bag.
Anyone with information about the incident, on May 22, should call 0207 3915275.
