Basildon boxer Micky Murnane put up a brave battle on his first visit to the Four Nations Championships in Ireland.
The Chalvedon BC fighter, representing England, took on Irish champ Peter Ward, and lost 2-1 after four round.
But trainer Frank Doyle was pleased with Murnane's performance against the eventual gold medallist.
"We've no arguments," he said. "Their boy just nicked it. But Micky fought really well and it was very close."
