Southend United boss Steve Wignall confirmed today he is chasing Kidderminster Harriers targetman Drewe Broughton.
The 24-year-old, who scored eight goals last season, is available on a free transfer as the Aggborough Stadium club want the 6ft 3in giant off their wage bill.
Wignall hopes to have an answer from his latest transfer target next week.
"Drewe is a big, strong lad who intimidates defenders," said the Shrimpers chief.
"He is only young, but has played for a few clubs and has a lot of experience for his age.
"However, I would say that Drewe hasn't fulfilled the potential he showed in his early years and hopefully if he comes to Southend we can get the best out of him.
"Technically Drewe is very good and he punches his weight.
"And I'm sure he can provide a lot of goals for other people like Tes Bramble, as well as getting on the scoresheet himself."
