Chelmsford Canoe Club lost ground in their quest for Hasler Final qualification.
With the smallest turn out of the season, the Club could only muster two K2's and two K1's at the Waveney marathon.
Both Leighton Buzzard and Norwich entered strong teams, and with six K1's and three K2's from each club scoring points Chelmsford were always going to finish well down the field.
Chelmsford's best placed crew were the veteran K2 of Dean Williams and Andy Bragg who took first place in Division 5/6, finishing the eight mile course in just under the hour.
Juniors Daniel and Katie Whitehead, who are already proving to be amongst the Club's most regular competitors, finished fifth in Division 4 K1 and sixth in Division 6 K1 respectively.
The Chelmsford line-up was completed by youngsters Andrea and Nicole Bragg who finished fourth in Division 9, slipping back at the portages after a good start.
A much better entry will be needed at the last marathon of the season at Leighton Buzzard if the Club wants Hasler Final selection.
