A motorist escaped with minor injuries after a car collided with a lamppost.
The motorist, believed to be a woman, was travelling up Hatfield Road, in Witham, towards the town centre when the wheel of the car clipped the kerb, mounted the pavement and collided with the lamp post at about 1.30pm yesterday.
The driver managed to get out of the damaged car.
Police attending the accident remained at the scene until about 3pm to control traffic flow at the Hatfield Road Junction with Allectus Way.
The driver of the vehicle, a silver VW Polo, suffered minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.
