Murder squad detectives were today probing the mysterious death of a 46-year-old woman found slumped in her home.

Forensic experts sealed off the area around Joan Carter's semi-detached house in Waldegrave, Basildon.
It was first thought Ms Carter died from natural causes, but unexplained injuries were found at Basildon Hospital. Post mortem results were expected to be released today.
The investigation into the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death in the early hours of Tuesday morning are being conducted under the supervision of Det Supt Simon Coxall based at police headquarters in Chelmsford.
