Major efforts will be made to help spin-off industries if port development at Harwich takes place, it has been revealed.
The Haven Gateway Partnership is looking to provide training and promote spin-off jobs in the area, should the Bathside Bay plan be given the go-ahead.
George Courtauld, chairman of the partnership, will tell a meeting on June 27 the group is looking to promote more business opportunities, and raise the profile of the area.
One of the main aims of the meeting will be to seek support for a marketing campaign to promote the region and to develop new business opportunities.
Mr Courtauld added: "We want to firstly promote the area so that people are attracted to it for either trading or buying out. We also want to co-ordinate the supply of information to businessmen in the area, and do that through the web."
He said the partnership wished to increase business and one method would be to look at the potential spin-offs that port development at Harwich, Felixstowe and Ipswich could bring.
