It's a hat-trick! Dovercourt Bay was today awarded a Blue Flag for the third year running
Encams, UK co-ordinator for the Blue Flag award, named Dovercourt as a premier beach.
The award means it is recognised as one of Europe's best beaches and has been welcomed as a boost for attracting visitors and promoting the town.

Harwich mayor Les Double said: "It's absolutely brilliant news. I have never seen the beaches in my lifetime to be so packed. People do obviously look for quality water and a quality beach and actually head for it.
"Most people are not interested in penny arcades. They want a quality beach. I'm chuffed to bits."
Dovercourt had to pass stringent water tests to keep the flag and provide on-shore facilities including lifeguards, first aid and good disabled access.
It was one of four Essex beaches, including three in Southend, flying the flag from today.
Dovercourt is permitted to fly its Blue Flag during the bathing season and will be regularly monitored.
