An appeal is being made for volunteers for the Daybreak holiday play scheme in Chelmsford for children with disabilities.
The scheme, first launched 20 years ago, organised by Mencap for children between the ages of five and 18 with moderate to severe learning disabilities, will be running for four weeks during August.
Angie Taylor from Chelmsford, who has taken on the task of running the scheme to ensure it goes ahead in the summer,is asking for people to come forward to help. Minibus drivers are also needed for the scheme.
"Daybreak would not happen without the volunteers who come forward every year to help," said Angie.
"The volunteers are of all ages but many of them are 16 and 17 year olds. Some help out for a year or two before going off to university but we have some volunteers who come back year after year.
"There is always the need to recruit more volunteers. It is an excellent way to give something back to the community."
The Daybreak scheme will start on July 28 this year, at St Cedd's School in Chelmsford. Anyone interested in becoming a Daybreak volunteer can contact Angie Taylor on 01245 252494.
