Students taking exams had a last-minute change of venue after vandals struck a school building.
Teachers at Tendring Technology College in Frinton went to prepare the exam centre for GCSEs and A-levels and found seven windows had been smashed.
Staff quickly made sure the students had another building in which to take their exams in another part of the site.
Vice-principal Bob Allen, of the school in Rochford Way, said: "It's very disappointing. We have rarely suffered from any kind of vandalism, so it's surprising and saddening to find there are people who carry out this kind of act."
He added: "There was no disruption for the students and the centre is now back in use."
Police believe the vandals used stones and mud from a work site on the school grounds and threw them at the building over the weekend.
Anyone who saw the vandals damage the building over the weekend should contact Walton police 01255 221312
