Better and more coherent services are promised to Basildon residents with the creation of a new partnership.
Health, learning and welfare organisations have joined with Basildon Council and the police to form a partnership which is being launched later this month.
Known as the Basildon District Compact, the formal agreement between voluntary and statutory groups is designed to give better services to the public.
Council leader Malcolm Buckley said: "The Compact will ensure that decision-making is done in partnership and is clear and mutually agreed.
"Our vision is to see a Basildon district where the relationship between the voluntary, community and statutory organisations is a strong one, based on mutual respect and trust and founded on the commitment of providing the best services we possibly can."
The Compact also has a series of codes which cover partnership working, helping black and ethnic groups, community groups, volunteering, funding, consultation and premises.
A copy of the Compact can be obtained by calling 01268 294009.
