Hayley Thomas's superb achievements in the Southern Junior Championships at Watford have earned her international selection in the javelin.
Thurrock Harrier Hayley, following in the footsteps of former Olympic medalist Fatima Whitbread, threw a massive personal best 49.83m at the South of England event.
That's 2.33m further than the guideline qualifying distance for the World Youth Championships, being staged in Sherbrooke, Canada, from July 9-13.
Now she's earned selection for the Norwich Union Great Britain and Northern Ireland Under-20 team for the annual Loughborough International meeting next Sunday.
Hayley, 16, will be taking on seniors from Scotland and Wales plus an international select team. Great Britain students and a Loughborough Past and Present squad complete the line-up.
