Southend Council's garden waste wheeled bin recycling scheme, run in partnership with Cory Environmental, is achieving big results.
The scheme for borough residents is in its second year and last year over 1,000 tonnes of green waste was collected.
There is a one off payment of £20.50 for a green bin and also an annual collection charge of around £20.
At the moment around 4,500 people in the town use the scheme and Emma Ricketts, partnership recycling officer, said: "I would urge everyone who hasn't yet realised what a fantastic scheme it is to get involved."
She added there were a number of reasons to use the service including:
Wheeled bins are easier to use for green garden waste and convenient for weekly collections
There are fewer journeys to civic amenity sites
It is cost effective
