Mum Gisele Keens said: "Although George doesn't really understand, Charlotte was quite upset and asked where they had gone."
The children had been taking advantage of the hot weather on the toys.
"They are their favourite toys," said Gisele. "I would definitely recognise them if I saw them and I would be grateful if people looked out for them."
A spokesman for Basildon Police said: "The thieves are believed to have climbed over the garden fence, unlocked the gate, then removed the jeeps."
Anyone with information is being asked to call Basildon Police on 01268 532212.
