Employers and employees need private sector job finders whatever the economic climate, claims Coral Jamieson who with Kevin Foreham runs the Fast Futures Recruitment Agency in South Benfleet.
She was commenting on news that recruitment agencies were starting to feel the pinch, especially in the City where there has been a surfeit of redundant executives seeking jobs.
Many former City traders from Essex are deserting the City and are turning to self employment, starting up estate agencies, management consultancies and as investment advisers.
The job opportunities market is never in balance, explains Coral who has spent 17 years in the profession, mainly with large recruitment firms in the City of London and the West End.
Coral and Kevin have set up in South Essex because it is more convenient to work where they live and because, as Carol puts it, "we have a passion for the job."
"It sounds like a clich," stresses Carol, "but we do care about the problems of our employer clients. Similarly, we care for the job applicants. No matter how unskilled some job seekers may seem there is always a placement opportunity if you look hard enough.
"We work hard finding jobs, nation-wide, within the region and, of course, within South Benfleet and Basildon.
"We never give in. "If we can't find the proper person we advise our client to wait.
We never get into the business of not matching the job to the skills, whether a vacancy in accountancy or management with a salary of 65 or 70K, or a factory cleaner seeking £4.60 an hour."
