The Harwich School is planning to sell off its historic Grange to build a new sixth form centre.
Headteacher Jacky Froggatt said they were looking to sell the historic building, which houses the current sixth form, to fund new facilities at the main site in Hall Lane.
Plans include a purpose-built sixth form suite, improved PE changing facilities and redeveloped accommodation for other subjects.

The announcement follows months of speculation about the Grange's future.
Consultations were carried out to review the school's use of land.
It is not known how much the development will cost or when it will begin.
Miss Froggatt said she did not know what would happen to the Grange and its land when sold, but said affordable housing had been suggested.
She said: "Sadly, the Grange no longer provides adequate accommodation to meet the needs to providing education for sixth formers in the 21st century."
Final consent to sell the Grange has yet to be granted by Department for Education after public consultation.
Plans will be available to view at the school on July 7, between 7-9pm.
