A motorboat museum is going hi-tech in order to get more young people through the doors.
The museum in Wat Tyler Country Park, Pitsea, plays host to thousands of school children every year as part of their national curriculum studies.
The new computer and internet systems being installed will bring the museum up to the technology standards students now expect.
Anthony Hedley, Basildon Council's portfolio holder for community and leisure, said: "This is excellent news. Internet access is fundamental these days to research and learning and the money we have received from the Heritage Lottery Fund will enable us to install cables and improve communications for the benefit of everyone visiting the museum."
The museum also hopes to employ a professional to develop a range of educational materials and courses. The professional would work with the museum's curator and the museum's volunteers.
