Canvey is getting new taxi ranks to cope with a huge rise in Hackney carriages following deregulation of the trade.
There are now 120 cabs operating on the island, compared with 37 before deregulation.
Castle Point highways and leisure committee approved plans to reposition a rank at Third Avenue, Canvey, and install one at the Haystack pub in Furtherwick Road.
