Chelmsford Borough Council is warning of bogus callers working in the area.
A caller has been going from door-to-door offering a will-making service, stating that the project is supported by or in conjunction with Chelmsford Borough Council.
The council has no involvement in any such service and has no role in providing wills. Residents in the borough should remember that all council staff will always show their staff passes.
To check Chelmsford Borough Council employees call 01245 606968.
The council is advising residents not to let anyone in who does not have a suitable pass and reason for calling.
If you are unsure about the pass you should refuse access and ring the company for verification, using directory enquires if necessary.
Residents are also being advised to fit a front door chain and remember to put it on before opening the door.
If you are still unsure-phone the police.
