Staff at Colchester County Court have received recognition for going that extra mile to serve the public.
The court is one of 19 to be awarded the Charter Mark in recognition of the sterling work it does for the people it serves.
Mark Lucas, court manager at Colchester, said: "We have introduced a number of initiatives over a two-year period to produce a more customer focused approach to the way we deal with the business of the court."
"This is a very prestigious award and we always felt our customer service here at Colchester was good and a number of court users, including barristers, have always put Colchester at the top of the list of courts they enjoy visiting."
He added: "It is good to get validation from an independent body that our customer service is good."
In assessing applications, Charter Mark officials see how courts respond to the needs of customers, ask people what they want to see, change working practices and develop innovative ideas, all aimed at making the court experience more friendly to the public.
