Tough bowling conditions and negative tactics cost Westcliff the chance of a first win of the season when they took on unbeaten Orsett.
The visitors batted first and made an impressive total of 269-6, with Sunny Choksi leading the way on 90.
He was backed up by Chris Williams (48) and Jon Pratt (47) as Westcliff played themselves into a winning position from 49 overs.
And it looked even better for them in reply, with four early wickets leaving Orsett reeling.
But the early leaders in division one are looking for a quick return to the Premier after least season's relegation.
And thanks to Kevin Sargeant's 54 they steadied things to bat out a draw which left Westcliff skipper Tim Wade frustrated.
"It was an awful, boring finish," he said. "I was pleased with the way we batted and bowled but no matter what we did they didn't seem interested in trying to make a game of it."
