On a hot day at the John Burrows Ground, these two struggling Premier sides piled up 49-0 runs on a fast outfield.

They picked up ten points apiece in a drawn affair and allowed Hadleigh to move off bottom spot above a Fives and Heronians side they visit next week.

Wanstead were finally all out with only two of their designated 66 overs remaining, but would probably have been well-advised to have called it a day by declaring around the 250 mark.

"If they had done the consensus of opinion was that there would have been a result one way or another," said Hadleigh's Jon Wagstaff

"As it was their total was just too much to expect us to go for, particularly as they had the better of the wicket."

Opener Danny Rother led the way for Wanstead with 77, while Essex Academy brothers AD (45) and AR (35) Akram took the other visiting batting honours.

In a solid all round bowling display by the hosts Steve Brown took 3-44, Dev Gandhi 3-40 and Hafeez Quershi 3-49.

For the third week running, second team opener Adam Fleming covered himself in glory for Hadleigh.

Coming in at number four he scored 62 and got good support from Gandhi (23) and number seven Paul Baker (27).

Amazingly though, Fleming apart, extras were the mainstay of the home innings with 55 finally being on the board.
