Voluntary workers from across mid-Essex have learned potentially lifesaving skills should they ever be involved in a fire.
The volunteers, who are involved with charity shops and charitable organisations across Braintree, Uttlesford and Chelmsford districts, spent a day learning fire safety and prevention techniques yesterday.
The training day, run by professional firefighters, took place at the Fire Service industrial training centre at the fire station in Railway Street, Braintree.
Maggie Hawke, development officer for Voluntary Sector Training, said: "It went absolutely brilliantly. We had a good turnout, with 29 people from a variety of voluntary organisations.
