The search is on for the best chef in Essex.
Essex County Council has teamed up with Anglia Railways for the Essex Chef of the Future 2003 competition, launched this week by Mark Baumann, of Baumann's Brasserie, Coggeshall.

He said: "It is vital to encourage young people in the industry and also to promote excellent dishes which, in some cases, are unique to Essex.
"Entries are invited from chefs working in Essex and using local produce wherever possible. One of four regional heats will be held in Chelmsford.
Councillor Peter Martin, cabinet member for planning, enterprise and regeneration, said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for aspiring chefs to raise their profile, along with promoting the wide variety of home-grown produce in Essex."
