Police were today investigating the mystery death of a man after a charred body was found in a burnt-out car.
Officers were alerted by firefighters who had been called to put out a car blaze in Blackle Lane near Great Leighs at 4.40pm yesterday.

The badly-burned body was discovered in the front passenger area of a white Volkswagen Golf, which had been parked on a grass verge in the quiet country lane in an area close to the Essex Showground.
The body had not been formally identified but police said it was believed to be a local man.
Anyone who was in the area yesterday afternoon or saw anything suspicious have been urged to contact police on 01376 551312
