A select area of Southend is set to get a new wine bar, despite bitter opposition from neighbours.
The council's development control committee agreed plans to convert the former stationmaster's house at Thorpe Bay station, despite 43 letters of objection to the scheme.
Technical services director David Watts said if the scheme had been put forward by the railway operators it would not have required any permission.
