A couple whose garden was devastated after an electrical cable exploded in a ball of flames have been told repair work will start today.
Betty and George Pullen's nightmare started on Saturday afternoon when one of two cables exploded in their back garden, destroying plants and shrubs.
The couple, who live in St John's Road, Clacton, were left shocked and scared when the blast sent flames into the sky close to their bungalow.
Electricity company 24seven sent workmen round to fix the cables but had to dig up most of their 80ft long garden to do so.
Mrs Pullen said: "We have been told they are going to fill in the holes today."
She said they had been told the cables would not be reconnected unless they were needed in an emergency.
"We want a full report on what happened. We would like to know because it has affected us so bad."
The couple have been suffering from ringing in their ears since the explosion and from the effects of shock, but they hope the symptoms will clear soon.
