A 12-year-old boy had his glasses taken and was assaulted by an adult then punched in the face three times by two teenagers.
The assault took place on the corner of Orwell Road and Marine Parade East, Clacton at about 4.15pm.
A spokesman for Clacton police said the boy was approached by a man who took the victim's glasses off.
He said the man, who was with the two teenager boys, then threw the victim against a maroon coloured Ford Mondeo car in Orwell Road.
The two teenager boys then punched the boy three times in the face.
The spokesman said the three got into a green coloured Rover car and drove off after the assault on May 17.
But a few minutes later the three returned and made rude hand gestures at the victim.
The man is described as about 5ft 7ins tall and was about 35 years old. He was also balding and wearing a blue jumper.
