Bashful men who find it hard to approach their doctor will be able to air their medical queries in a new environment - the railway platform!

Male commuters will be able to get free health advice while they wait for the train at Witham station, thanks to a new scheme spearheaded by Braintree Council.

With the help of First Great Eastern, the council will be setting up a men's health check at Witham station, offering men information and advice on all aspects of health.

But the shy guys need not worry.

Medical staff will not be grabbing inappropriate parts in view of fellow passengers and asking people to cough they will start with carrying out a blood pressure check which is a useful guide to general health, along with giving out advice and information.

The initiative will start on Wednesday, June 11, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm as part of National Men's Health Week.

They are offering the service to encourage men to take better care of their health and to make more use of health services.

Chairman of Braintree Men's Health Working Group, Kryshia Fuller, said: "It's convenient for commuters, is free, it's quick and confidential. We hope men will use it to find out how good their health really is or to ask about any problem they might have."
