A 13-year-old boy has been left with a broken nose and two black eyes after being attacked by a man in the street

Police were today appealing for witnesses to the incident described as "unprovoked and vicious" which happened at 6.10pm on Sunday in Elm Tree Avenue, Frinton.

PC David Woodhouse said three teenagers were sitting on a bench in Elm Tree Avenue, when the passenger of a red car, believed to be a Fiesta or a Peugeot, got out and accused them of throwing stones at the car.

PC Woodhouse said: "The teenagers all denied it, but the guy pushed the first boy over, he then stepped towards the second kid but he got out the way.

"He got hold of the third by the scruff of his neck and punched him five times in the face."

The officer said: "It appeared to be a totally unprovoked and vicious attack."

The attacker then got back into the car and the driver, a blonde female, drove off.

He was said to be in his 40s with short brown balding hair, while the driver who had a blonde bob haircut, is believed to be in her 30s, and with a possible Irish accent.

The boy was taken to Clacton Hospital, where he had treatment for his broken nose. PC Woodhouse said the boy will have to see a specialist in ten days for his injury.

Anyone with any information should call PC Woodhouse at Clacton police station on 01255 221312
