Coastguards have warned youngsters and adults not to take chances and walk out too far on the mud in the Thames Estuary.
Over the bank holiday weekend, there were special warning notices along the seafront and stewards patrolled along the beach.

However, coastguard Dick Townsend said: "We had problems throughout Southend Airshow weekend with youngsters and adults walking out at low tide." He said it was especially important people obeyed warnings.
He said: "On Sunday, the Harrier could not come in as was intended because of the dangers to people who had strayed out past the warning notices. Not only were people putting themselves in possible danger, they were also spoiling the enjoyment of others."
"Unfortunately, despite everything we do, there are still silly youngsters - and adults - around."
