A jeweller has shut up shop after being subjected to an attempted armed robbery.
Harry Francis, 64, who ran HBJ Jewellers in Connaught Avenue, Frinton, fought with a would-be raider with a knife last year.
He said both he and his staff were too scared to go on.
Mr Francis had run the jewellery business for the past 23 years.
Loyal customers and fellow traders in the shopping street popped in to wish him well before he closed.
Mr Francis now intends to spend more time selling goods through his own website.
The shop is due to continue as a jewellers from June
