The Essex Eels have reinforced their squad with the arrival of experienced Aussie ace Blair Tonkin.
The 28-year-old Queenslander, who once helped club side Burleigh Bears to a famous win over a GB touring side, is hoping to help push the club towards the national play-offs.
Coach Stuart Hogg said: "To get a player like Blair with that kind of experience is priceless.
His ability to play in any of the half back positions will give us real direction and should eliminate some of the basic errors that have cost us points in the last fortnight.
"Additionally, his age will help as his 'old head' provides support for the younger Eels during the game."
But the club is still keen to recruit locally, and already has a handful of local players involved in the squad. Anyone else interested in getting involved can come to training sessions at Basildon RFC, Gardiners Close, on Tuesday evenings from 7pm.
