Staff at two volunteer forces in Castle Point will be working closer together in the future in a drive to recruit more volunteers.
Volunteers at the Castle Point Association of Voluntary Services (CAVS), based in Long Road, Canvey, will now be teaming up with the Volunteer Bureau based at the Tyrells Centre in Seamore Avenue, Thundersley.
Chris Moran, director of CAVS and the bureau, said: "This is a very exciting opportunity for us to develop a base off the island while making better use of the volunteer centre in Long Road.
"Two volunteer bases covering Castle Point has always been the long-term goal of our organisation."
As a result of this expansion, CAVS is looking to recruit more volunteers for the Canvey based-office. Mrs Moran said: "We need volunteers to answer the telephone and carry out general office duties, training will be given and all expenses paid."
Bureau co-ordinator Suzie Brutnell said: "The benefits of the move will be that staff at both centres can work under the same roof from time to time."
