Basildon Golf Club were well beaten at Chelmsford in their Essex Leslie F Wood Championship match.
After losing all five foursomes, the new towners found the deficit too much despite halving half the singles.
Final margin was 12-3 and this was a true reflection of the match as the Basildon players failed to cope with the fast greens.
The annual charity event for the Hull Shield produced a close finish with a tie for first place on 43 points -- Ben Tobin and Steve Mayhew winning the trophy on countback from Glen David and David Fisk.
K and A Brace finished third, beating D Hawkes and C Meaden on countback after both pairs shot 42.
This annual charity competition is in aid of the English Blind Golfers Association, to whom a cheque presented.
