Police today warned shopkeepers and pub landlords to beware of a man trying to palm off fake £20 notes.
The advice comes after the culprit presented a forged note to staff at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel, Arterial Road, Rayleigh.
The white culprit was in his late 20s or early 30s, 5ft 3in tall with brown short hair.
Sgt Kevin Diable-White said: "The serial number of this note was AC62395241 and I would urge everyone, particularly retail staff, to check any notes tendered to them."
