Schoolchildren are to be taught how to be popular with their neighbours - with a class about noise control.
As part of Noise Action Day, Basildon Council is visiting Vange Primary School to explain the annoyance caused by noisy neighbours.
A council spokesman said: "The nine and ten-year-old children will take part in an hour-long session and discuss with experts what sort of noise upsets people most.
"They will also be told the difference everyone can make just by thinking a little more about what they are doing and what time they are doing it.
"They will be helped along with a special school pack that will include advice and handy tips. We will be running a poster competition afterwards to encourage the children to turn their ideas into practice."
Vange Primary School headteacher Sue Andrews said: "It is important children are taught about consideration and the noise they make."
The council will also be running Noise Surgeries on June 4 at Felmores, Pitsea and Laindon housing offices where environmental health officers offering advice and information to people with noisy neighbours.
