A memorial service will be held at South East Essex College for a lecturer who drowned on a holiday to Spain.
John McGrath, who lived in Westcliff, worked as a sixth form lecturer at the college in Carnarvon Road, Southend.
A college spokesman said: "It was with great sadness that the college learned of the sudden death of John who drowned shortly before Easter while on holiday in Spain.
"John's funeral was held in his family's home town in County Clare. A floral tribute was sent from the staff and students of the college and three of John's colleagues travelled to Ireland to represent the college at the funeral.
"We have received many requests from colleagues and students who would like to pay tribute to John.
"We are arranging a collection in support of appropriate charities locally and we are also liaising with John's partner to arrange a memorial service."
