Southend have stormed to the top of the early-season Southern League table after winning round two at Garon Park.
Delighted men's secretary Keith Palmer said: "It was good to see some old faces back in the pack who, despite their long absences, pulled out some superb performances.
"Most notable was one-time club decathlon champion Toby Sullivan who, clearly still in decathlon mind-set, started his come-back with five B-string events, winning two -- the 400m hurdles (60.3) and the long jump (6.42m), and placing second in the triple jump (11.95m)."
Meanwhile, Mitchell Wilkin collected his club age 17 long jump record with 7.01m, which is one of the best under-20 long jumps in the UK so far this year.
There were maximum point scores too from high jumpers Simon Thomas and Greg Goodrem.
The formidable duo of James South and Dave Condon continued to dominate the infield with their throwing performances and it was good to see the vaulters back in the frame.
