Bad weather delayed the release of birds from Ripon, and a stiff south-westerly wind meant a time of about four-and-a-half hours for the 195-mile trip.
Pride of Laindon sent 214 birds and the first one back was from Jimmy Richards in 1214 yards per minute.
The next three places were all for Mr and Mrs Bob Smith's Buschearts birds, with the quickest clocking 1213ypm.
Jimmy Deighton took fifth with 1208ypm.
Laindon RPC sent 237 birds and Albert Parker and Son teamed up again to take the top two places.
R Price and Son took third.
