Current Osborne League leaders Elmstead Grasshoppers maintained their 100 per cent record with a win against Great Bromley.

Peter Brinkley's 71 helped Great Bromley achieve 167 for eight, but with their opponents amassing 171 for four they were defeated by six wickets.

Also in division one, Colchester suffered a setback in their charge up the table when they were beaten by a single run against Boxted.

Richard Llewellyn made 52 as Boxted amassed 161 for six.

Halstead made 144 for four as they beat Eight Ash Green by six wickets.

St Osyth lost by seven wickets to West Bergholt, who made 105 for three.

Abberton's match against Hatfield Peverel was cancelled.

Fixtures in division two also fell foul of the weather as West Mersea v Kirby, Birch v Little Clacton and Shalford v Clacton Ramblers were all cancelled.

Chris Smith was 83 not out and Steve Harris 44 as Copford defeated Tollesbury by 81 runs. Smith topped off his batting performance by bowling four for 26.

Great Totham had a three-wicket victory over Great Bentley and Dave Wilson made 86 as Kirby beat Gosfield by 15 runs.

It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for Ardleigh in division three.

After defeat against Great Braxted and Tiptree, they tasted victory over rivals Dedham.

Dedham seemed to be cruising, but collapsed to let Ardleigh win by six wickets.
