Empty premises in Braintree High Street could be filled by a coach holiday company and taxi business.
RS Travel Services, of Long Green, Cressing, is looking to expand in Braintree and has applied to turn the ground floor premises of 112 High Street into an office, where people can book coach holidays.
Its proposal includes a taxi business service, where people can order cabs and stay in a waiting room until their car is driven round to them while they wait.
Manager Ron Prince said there was currently only one taxi rank in the town and cabs could be booked from the business during the day and in the evenings.
Mr Prince said: "During the day, the older generation haven't got to queue up and wait for buses." There would be vehicles with access for wheelchair users too.
RS Travel has arranged a lease for the premises, which will be signed if planning permission is granted by Braintree Council, and the company is looking to buy the place in future.
